HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Scandinavia Express
Services
is
now the largest provider of intercity bus
transportation in Tanzania, serving eighteen destinations within Tanzania,
Kenya, Uganda and Zambia with over 40 daily departures across the region.
Our reputation as the countries foremost coach
operator is second to none.
However when
Scandinavia Express
Services
was established over two decades ago, only a few buses
existed in Tanzania. The equipment then was poor and additional services were minimal.
The first buses were converted tankers. Emboldened to improve that situation, the company purchased its first Scania
coach in 1982 and established a new schedule service between
Dar-es-Salaam and the small interior town of Iringa.
Since its inception,
Scandinavia Express
Services
has focused on safety, reliability and service. Guided by the company founder, our dedicated
management and committed staff continuously strive to improve standards and
fulfil the needs of the travelling public.
As public demand grew, new routes were inaugurated throughout Tanzania. Soon the grey, red and blue stripes of
Scandinavia Express
coaches were seen bringing travellers and goods to almost every
town.
Scandinavia Express
Services
began its first cross-border service in 2001 - between Dar-es-Salaam and Nairobi, Kenya. The success of that regional
route spurred further expansion up Tanzania's coast to Kenya's resort city, Mombasa. The following year the Nairobi service was extended westwards to
Kampala in Uganda. Then in 2003,
Scandinavia Express
Services
became the first schedule luxury coach to
operate between Tanzania and the capital of Zambia, Lusaka.
As East and Central Africa's premier coach
operator,
Scandinavia Express
Services
continues to improve the convenience of international road travel. We hope to announce new services to the principal cities of other
neighbouring countries.
In cooperation with other reputable coach
operators,
Scandinavia Express
Services
may soon be able to offer safe and reliable interline coach travel
across central and southern Africa, from world renowned Table Mountain to the misty
tropical forests of the Mountains of the Moon.
