IMMIGRATION
Passport: Required - with certain exceptions (check with your
travel agent or Kenya embassy). Minors up to age 16 years travelling
alone require their own passport.
Visa: Required (including minors travelling on a parent's
passport) - except for nationals of Tanzania, holders of a re-entry
permit Visas or a Visitors Pass can be obtained on arrival for
citizens of various countries, British passport holders, nationals of South Africa,
USA, Canada and many other countries (check
with your travel agent or Kenya embassy).
Visa fee: Payable in foreign currency (US$) Varies between
US$10 - 50 depending on the country. Visitors must hold a return or
onward ticket to their next country of destination.
HEALTH
Required - Only if visiting Zanzibar - Vaccination Certificate against Yellow Fever if
arriving in Kenya from abroad within 10 days after leaving or
transiting a designated infected area. Check with your travel agent.
Exempt - Children under 1 year old.
Recommendations:
Yellow Fever for visitors to any area outside the main cities
(except for children under 1 year old).
Anti-Malaria precautions.
Typhoid fever vaccination.
CUSTOMS
Free import (by passengers 16 years and older) of:
250 grammes tobacco or 200 cigarettes, 1 bottle alcoholic beverages,
1 pint perfume.
Video camera for personal use
Fire arms require a police permit.
Certificates required for: fruit, plants and seeds.
CURRENCY
Import: Allowed:
RESIDENTS of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda - Up to amount exported plus unlimited
foreign currency.
NON-RESIDENTS - Local currency prohibited, foreign currency
unlimited.
Export: Allowed:
RESIDENTS of Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda - Up to TZS1000 plus bank
authorised amounts of foreign currency.
NON-RESIDENTS - Local currency prohibited, foreign currency limited
to that declared on entry.
