TOURIST INFORMATION - UGANDA

IMMIGRATION

Passport: Required and valid for at least three months after the period of intended stay. Minors up to age 16 years travelling alone require their own passport.

Visa: Required (including minors travelling on a parent's passport) - except for nationals of Uganda, holders of a re-entry permit, citizens of various countries coming for a stay of less than 6 months (check with your travel agent or Uganda embassy), British subjects being 'Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies'.

Visa fee: Payable in foreign currency (US$) Varies between US$10 - 50 depending on the country. Visitors must hold a return or onward ticket to their next country of destination.

HEALTH

Required - Vaccination Certificate against Yellow Fever. Check with your travel agent.

Exempt - Children under 1 year old.

Recommendations:

Yellow Fever for all visitors (except for children under 1 year old).

CUSTOMS

Free import (by passengers 17 years and older) except for returning visitors to Kenya and Tanzania, of:

1/2lb tobacco or 200 cigarettes, 1 bottle (1/4 gallon) alcoholic beverages, 1/4 pint perfume or 1 pint perfume-toilet water.

CURRENCY

Import: Allowed:

ALL TRAVELLERS - Local currency (UGS) prohibited, foreign currency unlimited.

Export: Allowed:

ALL TRAVELLERS - Local currency prohibited, foreign currency limited to that declared on entry.
